No. We were established in 2004.

How many submissions in 2005 and how many do you expect in 2006?

We had around 300 in 2005. Because we are adding a shorts competition, we expect to double the entrants.

What are the SCREENPLAY submission requirements?

1. 90-120 pages maximum. 2. Standard screenplay format. 3. 2 brads. 4. In English. 5. Proofed, edited. 6. Correct fee submitted. 7. 2 cover sheets: One with your contact information and one with just the title of your screenplay. 8. No other attachments except application. 9. TYPE your email address on your cover sheet! If we cannot read your email address on your application, your score sheet coverage will bounce back to us.

Can you waive my fee? I'm poor/a student?

Sorry, we are not able to grant any waivers. This festival is a fundraiser for a non-profit organization. Putting on a festival can sometimes cost more than what is received in entrant fees. But be sure to submit your screenplay/short early for earlybird discount fees.

What types of screenplays are you looking for?

Our theme is Classics to Camp. But basically, we are looking for well-written screenplays. Our top three winners last year were a period piece, an action piece and a comedy.

Will I receive coverage/feedback on my screenplay?

We will not be offering coverage/fedback for this year's competition. However, each screenplay will still receive two reads. Both scores will be tabulated in order to select the finalists.

When will you announce the winners?

Shorts finalists will be announced in August 2006, while the screenplay finalists will be announced in September 2006.

Will the winners be submitted to production companies and agents?

Yes. Last year we submitted the top 10 loglines/synopsis to over 40 production companies and agents. We hope to add to that list this year.

Can I submit more than one screenplay, short?

Yes. However, each screenplay or short must have a separate application. One check can be written for multiple screenplays, (or one payment through Paypal.com).

Who are the readers?

We use professional readers who come from other screenplay competitions, production companies, agencies, studios.

What will my screenplay be scored on?

Style, format, structure, story/plot, scenes, dialogue, characters, character development, etc.

Will all the finalists be invited to the awards party?

All finalists will be invited to the awards party with free admission. However, if you live outside of Los Angeles, it will be up to you to provide your own transportation and lodging.

What if I'm a finalist and I can't make it to the party? Will that hurt my chances of winning?

That will not have anything to do with you winning. We will simply mail your prize package to you after the conclusion of the competition.

How will the finalists be promoted?

By submitting to our list of interested production companies, agents. We will also generate press releases online and offline.

How will I know if you received my script?

By sending a self-addressed, stamped postcard. We will mail it back to you as confirmation. You can also send script "delivery confirmation" through the USPS. We cannot tell you over the phone whether we have received it.

How can I pay the fee if I live outside the USA?

Can I submit a screenplay if it is optioned or sold?

Optioned, yes, sold, no. But the good news? You sold a script!!

Will you let us know if we have been disqualified? How are screenplays disqualified?

We will not notify you. It is up to you to follow the instructions. Screenplays can be disqualified if they do not follow the rules, don't submit payment with the application, etc.

Can I include artwork, press releases, research material with my screenplay?

No. Only submit the requested materials.
